Club Notes: 6th June 2016

Club Lotto
Last week’s lotto draw was held on the bank holiday Monday night, the winning numbers were 1-12-19-27, and there was no winner. Eur20 winners were Tom Tobin, Ger McGrath, Aaron Pratt, Dan Casey, and Grace O’ Callaghan. Next week’s jackpot will be Eur15,000

JBHC, Shamrocks 2-15, Modeligo 0-6
Our Junior hurlers had a big win over Modeligo last Friday night in Lismore in the third round of the championship. With a blend of youth and experience, this is a useful team, and I think they will get a few more wins in the next few games which may get them to a playoff. Chris Murphy, with a personal tally of 1-8 was our top scorer, with a good spread of scorers. Panel; Liam Murphy, Michael Lucey, Thomas Baldwin, Martin Delaney, Liam Dalton, Tomas O’ Neill, Mike O’ Neill, Sean Murphy, Tommy O’ Donovan, Chris Murphy, Bernie Kelleher, Nat Smith, Alan Kelly, Jamie Murphy, Keegan O’ Farrell, Sean O’ Neill, Dan O’ Neill, Seamie Tobin, John A. Kelly.

On duty in Thurles and Dungarvan.
Well done to Tom Dalton and Rachel Roche who played in the Primary Games at half time during the Waterford /Tipperary Munster Football match in Dungarvan last Sunday week. Well done also to Mark Dalton who played in the hurling Primary Game at half time during the Waterford /Clare match last Sunday. John Paul Lucey came on in the second half of the Intermediate Hurling match against Clare and gave a good account of himself, even though Waterford were defeated in this game.

Exam Time.
Best of luck to all the lads and lasses from the parishes who are starting the Leaving and Junior Certificates this Wednesday. We especially wish all our players good luck and may you get all you wish for.

Jim Murphy R.I.P.
Shamrocks would like to sympathise with the family and friends of Jim Murphy, Kilcockan, who passed away last week. Jim’s son Brendan played for the Shamrocks for a number of years, and Jim was a great parish man who did a multitude of work behind the scenes. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam. We would also like to send our condolences to Bishop Cullinan, whose sister Carmel O’ Kane also passed away last week. R.I.P.

Deise into another Munster Final.
There was a huge determination in this Deise team that was very evident in their second half display last Sunday in Thurles. They were not going to lose to Clare again, and though they could have been more clinical in front of goals, they still put up a decent total. Tipp or Limerick will be their opponents in a month’s time, I think the Deise will be hard to stop this year. Congrats to all the squad and backroom team.
