Club Notes: 9th October 2016

Club Lotto.
Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 4-5-23-28, and there was no winner. €20 winners were Ann Tobin, Linda Daly, Bart O’ Donoghue, Patrick Donoghue, and Monya Stanley. Next week’s jackpot will be €17,700.

IHC Shamrocks 2-12, Lismore 4-21.
Shamrocks made their exit from the Intermediate hurling championship when they were well beaten by Lismore in Fraher Field last Sunday. The first half was even enough with the sides level a few times. Then Lismore were awarded a rather harsh penalty, and Maurice Shanahan made no mistake to rattle the net. Shane Roche scored a fine point before disaster struck again when a long delivery ended up in the Shamrocks net. Colm Roche struck 3 points after that to leave the half time score 0-8 to 2-6 in favour of Lismore who were down to 14 players when their centre back was red carded for an off the ball incident. So despite being 4 points in arrears there was a lot to be optimistic ahead of the second half. We started well enough with points from Colm and Kelvyn O’ Farrell, and then Lismore just took over completely, scoring at will. They scored 1-7 to a single Colm point in the next 10 minutes, and we looked like the team with 14 men. A fine goal from Kelvyn gave a sliver of hope, but again Lismore scored 1-4 to leave us with a mountain to climb. Adam Crawford scored another goal near the end, but this was little consolation. It’s difficult to understand why we were so flat in the second half, but this was a really poor performance. That ends our hurling for the year. I would like to thank our selectors Liam Dalton, Ollie O’ Farrell, and Kieran Ahearne, along with coach Peter Queally for their efforts and time during the year. Panel; Ciarán O’ Keeffe, Brian Harnedy, John O’ Donovan, Padraig Roche, Cathal Herlihy, Shane Roche (0-1), Adam Crawford (1-0), Padraig Ahearne, J.P. Lucey, Edward Lonergan, Colm Roche (0-9), Eoin Murphy, Kelvyn O’ Farrell (1-1), Stevie Lucey (0-1), Edward Hynes, Tomás O’ Neill, Tommy O’ Donovan, Bernie Kelleher, Thomas Baldwin, Alan Kelly, Keegan O’ Farrell, Liam Murphy, Sean Murphy, Mike O’ Neill, Michael Lucey, Edward O’ Neill.

Junior Football semi final.
Now that we are out of the hurling we turn our attention to the big ball and we are taking on Affane in the semi final next Saturday at 3pm in Ballyduff. Despite the fact we already beat them in the group stages, this game will be a completely different story in the knockout stages. Best of luck to all on the team.

Get well soon
We send our best wishes to Stevie Lucey who received a nasty ear injury last Sunday. Get well soon Stevie.
