Club Notes: 21st May 2013

Club Lotto.
The numbers drawn in last Saturday’s draw were 7-16-22-23, and there was no winner. €20 winners were Karen Mason, Damien Moore, May Walsh, Ella McGrath, Mary & Fran. Next week’s jackpot will be €9,400.

Hurling League, Shamrocks 2-16, St. Mary’s 3-6.
The 3rd round of the Intermediate hurling league took place in Knockanore last Sunday against St. Mary’s from Tooraneena. The opening half was a bit sluggish with the score at half time 7 points to 4 in our favour, most of our scores coming from placed balls expertly slotted over by Adam Crawford, Chris Murphy also scoring from play. The second half was a more lively affair with the visitors rattling the net three times, however goals from Adam and Keegan O’ Farrell plus points from Chris, Tom O’ Donovan, Adam, Keegan, Ciaran O’ Keeffe, and Padraig Tobin saw us past the post by 7 points. Adam Crawford, who was our youngest player on the field scored 1-10 from play and from frees, no mean contribution in a man of the match display along with Paidi Ahearne and Stevie Lucey. Our next championship match will take place this Friday fortnight 7th June against Ballinameela in Lismore at 7.30. Panel; Liam Murphy, Padraig Ahearne, John O’ Donovan, Eamonn Forbes, Jamie Murphy, Eoin Murphy, Stevie Lucey, Joe Leahy, Edward Lonergan, Adam Crawford, Sean Murphy, Padraig Tobin, Keegan O’ Farrell, Cathal Herlihy, Chris Murphy, Tom O’ Donovan, Ciaran O’ Keeffe, Liam Dalton, John Baldwin, Thomas Baldwin, Mike O’ Neill.

Junior Football.
The 3rd round of the Junior Football Championship takes place this Friday evening against Affane in Knockanore at 7.30. With a win and a loss so far in this championship, selectors Jim O’ Neill, Joe Ahearne, and Mike Neville will be anxious to build on the improvement of the last match so as not to lose any ground, but Affane will provide a tough test as usual. Friday night in John F. Kennedy Park, Knockanore, come along and give them some support.

County Puc Fada.
Waterford will be running the annual Puc Fada in Carriganore on Wednesday 12th of June, and they are asking every club to send a player to contest it , that player ideally being selected by a competition within the club. The four provincial winners will compete in the All-Ireland final in the Cooley mountains on August 3rd, but in addition, those four will also win a trip to Austria with Today FM to compete in the Puc Fada on the ski slopes in early 2014. So watch this space for further updates….

Sympathies.
Shamrocks C.L.G. would like to offer it’s sympathies to the Lonergan family, Ballyneety, Knockanore, on the death of Catherine English, formerly of Co. Tipperary, who passed away last Thursday. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
