Lotto
Numbers drawn on Monday 3rd of July were 9,13,15,28 The Jackpot was €20,000 . There was no jackpot winner. The €20 winners were Aoife O’Flaherty, (Online), Aine Delaney(Online), Anne O’Keeffe, Mary Moloney and Martin Sheehan . The €1,000 bonus winner was Siobhan Denn. Next week's jackpot is €20,000. Lotto tickets are on sale from promoters and online. Online tickets are available from the Club Force app (Shamrocks GAA club Waterford) to play the lotto. Also if you play the lotto on clubforce, it is worth checking that your ticket has not expired. There is also a link to the club force app on Shamrocks website. Your support is greatly appreciated. With the jackpot now €20,000 a reminder if you're not in, you can’t win.
Déise Draw 2026
The new Déise Draw campaign is now underway and Shamrocks GAA Club is once again asking for the support of our members, supporters and wider community.
The Déise Draw remains one of the most important fundraising initiatives for clubs throughout Waterford, with substantial prize funds on offer while directly supporting local club development.
Tickets cost €100 and the draw features five monthly draws with over €126,000 in prizes available to be won. We encourage everyone who can to support the draw and help us continue to develop our facilities, teams and coaching programmes here in Shamrocks Gaa
Club representatives will be contacting members in the coming weeks and tickets can also be purchased through the club.
Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Quarter-Final
Shamrocks 2-25 Affane/Cappoquin/Tourin 1-29 (AET)
There was heartbreak for our Premier Intermediate hurlers in Lismore on Sunday evening when, after a tremendous battle with Cappoquin, we eventually went down by the narrowest of margins after extra time, 2-25 to 1-29.
Cappoquin had the advantage of the wind in the opening half, but it was Shamrocks who settled the better. Michael O’Neill got us off to the perfect start when he reacted quickest to a breaking ball on the edge of the square and finished to the net. We led by 1-3 to 0-3 after ten minutes before Cappoquin began to make use of the wind and worked their way back into the game.
The sides continued to trade scores, with Cappoquin moving ahead as the half wore on. A Cappoquin goal just before the short whistle proved an important score and left them leading by 1-13 to 1-8 at half-time.
With the wind at our backs after the change of ends, Shamrocks set about reducing the deficit. The lads showed great heart and determination and gradually worked their way back into contention. With 18 minutes of the second half played the sides were level at 1-15 each, and from there to the finish there was little or nothing between two evenly matched teams.
Neither side could find the winning score before the end of normal time and, with the scoreboard reading Shamrocks 1-19 Cappoquin 1-19, extra time was required.
Cappoquin held a slender 1-24 to 1-22 lead at the extra-time interval, but Shamrocks refused to give in. Shane Roche raised our second green flag to keep us right in the contest and the lads battled gamely until the final whistle. Unfortunately, when that whistle eventually sounded, Cappoquin were a single point to the good, 1-29 to 2-25.
It was a cruel way to bow out of the championship and, in truth, this was a game in which neither team deserved to lose. Great credit is due to the entire panel and management for the spirit, determination and never-say-die attitude shown throughout, particularly in fighting back from five points down at half-time and taking the game all the way through extra time.
Hard luck to all involved. The result may not have gone our way, but nobody could have asked for any more from the lads on the evening.
