Club Notes: 21st April 2013

Club Lotto.
The numbers drawn in last Saturday’s lotto draw were 5-8-13-21 and there was no winner. €20 winners were Sean Walsh, Dominic Power, Redmond Foley, Mary Tobin, and Seamus O’ Neill, Next week’s jackpot will be €8,800.

Junior Football Championship, Shamrocks 2-6, Modeligo 0-8.
Shamrocks recorded their first win in this year’s football championship when they survived a second half comeback by Modeligo to win by four points in Lismore last Sunday. With the assistance of the strong breeze in the first half, we needed to start well and put up a decent score, and though we were on top possession-wise, we were finding it difficult to get scores. Points from Colm Roche (making his debut for the footballers), Adam Crawford, and Nat Smith had us ahead after ten minutes, but a fine goal from Nat finally gave us the kick start we needed, and another fine individual goal from Colm, left the half time score 2-5 to 0-1. As expected, Modeligo came into the game with the benefit of the wind in the second half, and even though they scored seven points and we only scored one we held out for a deserved win. Hurling will take over for a few weeks now with a league match and two championship matches in three weeks. Panel; Tim Lenehan, Brian Harnedy, John O’ Donovan, John Baldwin, Diarmuid Ahearne, Shane Roche, Jason Ahearne, Tom O’ Donovan, Tomas O’ Neill, Padraig Ahearne, Sean Murphy, Adam Crawford (0-1), Colm Roche (1-2), Nat Smith (1-2), Chris Murphy (0-1), Ciaran O’ Keeffe, Joe Leahy, Pat Smith, Eoin Roche, Mike Smith, Alan Kelly, Kieran Murphy, Liam Dalton, Mike O’ Neill, John A. Kelly, Sean O’ Neill.

Intermediate Hurling League.
The second round of the Intermediate hurling league takes this weekend with Shamrocks facing Ballysaggart away on Sunday evening. Ballysaggart are one of the stronger Junior teams and this promises to be a tough encounter. With the first round of the championship against Abbeyside coming up on Sunday week May 5th this game should be good preparation.
