G.A.A. Club Notes – 16th April

Club Lotto.
The numbers drawn in last Saturday’s lotto draw were 4-12-14-25, and there was no winner. €20 winners were Frank Mills, May Walsh, Geraldine O’ Regan, Eileen O’ Keeffe, Tony O’ Brien. Next week’s jackpot will be €8,650.

Junior Football Championship.
Our first Championship football match of 2013 took place in a wet and windy Lismore last Saturday night against neighbours Tallow. Despite playing with the wind and getting off to a good start with points from Adam Crawford and Liam Dalton, amazingly we failed to score again for the remainder of the match and Tallow eventually won by 7 points. A very poor performance by any standards, and much improvement will be needed if we are to have any more interest in this year’s championship. We play Modeligo next Sunday at 7pm in Lismore in the second round of this Championship. We wish the lads better fortune for this match.

Waterford Minors.
Commisserations to Colm Roche and the Waterford minor hurlers who were defeated by Tipperary last Wednesday in Walsh Park. Though Tipp deserved their win, it was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested, one of their goals scored was certainly a soft one. They play Clare tonight (Wed) in Dungarvan at 7pm which is now a knockout tie. We wish them the best of luck.

Dungarvan C.B.S. win All-Ireland.
It’s been a very good few weeks for both Dungarvan C.B.S. and St Augustines, winning the Croke Cup, i.e. the All-Ireland hurling title together, and a football title and now a hurling title seperately on their own. This must be a unique achievement for any town, maybe something never before done. Congratulations to all concerned from all in the Shamrocks
