Intermediate Hurling, Shamrocks 3-14, Abbeyside 0-10.
Shamrocks Intermediate hurlers came away from Lismore last Sunday evening with a well deserved win over Abbeyside in the Intermediate championship. With three players making their debut in this grade, this was one of the youngest teams ever to line out for the Shamrocks, but one wouldn’t have thought it given their assured performance on the night. Points from Shane Roche and Edward Lonergan gave us an early lead, but it wasn’t until Colm Roche scored a well worked goal that the team grew in confidence, and further scores from Adam Crawford, Edward, Shane and Colm saw us comfortably ahead at the break 1-8 to 0-2. With the breeze behind them in the second half, Abbeyside came more into the game, but a goal from a penalty by Shane and another from a terrific strike by Edward sealed the win. The three debutants, Adam, Colm and Chris Murphy all proved more than able to play at this level with the youngest, Colm scoring 1-4 from play. Undoubtedly there will be tougher tests to come, starting next Sunday in Lismore against Brickey Rangers, who recorded a fine win over Clashmore last Sunday. This match throws-in at 3.30, so come along and give them some support. Panel; Liam Murphy, Padraig Ahearne, John O’ Donovan, Brian Harnedy, Jason Ahearne, Eoin Murphy, Stevie Lucey, Tom O’ Donovan, Joe Leahy, Colm Roche (1-4), Shane Roche (1-4), Adam Crawford (0-2), Cathal Herlihy, Edward Lonergan (1-4), Chris Murphy, Keegan O’ Farrell, Padraig Tobin, Ciaran O’ Keeffe, Sean Murphy, Eamonn Forbes, Liam Dalton, John Baldwin, Mike O’ Neill, Jamie Murphy.

Junior Hurling, Shamrocks 0-13, Clashmore 1-10.
Our Junior hurlers had their first outing in the championship last Monday, when they played out a draw with Clashmore in Cappoquin. At half time the score was 0-6 to 0-2 in our favour, but Clashmore with the aid of a goal came right back into it and went ahead with just minutes left. James Baldwin saved the day with a last minute point to leave it honours even. They won’t have much chance to rest however as they face Cappoquin this Friday 10th May in Ballyduff, throw-in time 7.30. We wish them luck. Panel; Sean O’ Neill, Mike O’ Neill, Eamonn Forbes, Liam Dalton, Paddy Smith, Kieran Murphy, John Baldwin, Diarmuid Ahearne, Tomas O’ Neill, Nat Smith, Dan O’ Neill, Sean Murphy, Eoin Roche, James Baldwin, Alan Kelly, James Walsh, Conor Goulding, Pat Murphy, Ritchie Murphy, Tim Lenehan, John A. Kelly.
